One thing i suggest when looking for pics~ if you go to google and find something, you can click "similar images" and find lots of stuff~
You can also upload a pic (or use a url) and google will search with that.
ummmm i'm not sure if sam knows about editing pics x-x

umm there's also dominant colors when searching for pics. (just to find random stuff~)

try not to make the icons too big (stretching how much space each section has) i think the most i've used was 200 x 150-ish? you have to change the pixels for it to work tho.
